Allegations of Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes actions such as fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or plagiarism during the creation, execution, peer review, or publication of research. If authors are found to have engaged in misconduct related to published articles, journal editors are obligated to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the scientific record.

When misconduct is suspected, the Editors and Editorial Board of LJISSEN-AI will follow the ethical guidelines set forth by best  practices of COPE to assist them to resolve the complaint and address the misconduct fairly. This process involves an internal investigation. If a submitted manuscript contains proven misconduct, it will be rejected. For already published articles, a retraction may be issued and linked to the original piece.

The initial step is to verify whether the allegation is credible and aligns with the recognized definition of research misconduct. This process also includes evaluating if the individuals raising the allegation have any potential conflicts of interest.

If there are indications of misconduct or other serious research issues, the allegations are forwarded to the corresponding author, who is asked to respond on behalf of all co-authors with a detailed explanation. Once the response is reviewed, further assessment may involve expert input, such as from statistical reviewers. In situations where misconduct appears unlikely, the issue may be resolved through clarifications or additional analyses, which are typically published as letters to the editor and accompanied by correction notices in the original article.

Institutions are expected to conduct an appropriate and thorough investigation of allegations of scientific misconduct. Ultimately, authors, journals, and institutions have an important obligation to ensure the accuracy of the scientific record. By responding appropriately to concerns about scientific misconduct, and taking necessary actions based on evaluation of these concerns, such as corrections, retractions with replacement, and retractions, LJISSEN-AI journal will continue to fulfill the responsibilities of ensuring the validity and integrity of the scientific record.

Institutions are responsible for carrying out a proper and comprehensive investigation into claims of scientific misconduct. In the end, maintaining the accuracy of the scientific literature is a shared duty among authors, journals, and institutions. By addressing allegations of misconduct appropriately and taking the necessary steps—such as issuing corrections, retracting articles, or replacing them—LJISSEN-AI remains committed to upholding the credibility and integrity of the scientific record.
